The Sur IWP is a global leader in cutting edge reverse osmosis technology and world class
environment standards. It recycles over 97% of its mechanical energy, saves up to 40%
more energy than conventional Reverse Osmosis (RO) plant and is dedicated to preserving
the unique geological and marine environment of Oman. Now, the plant delivers 115,000
m3/day on average to over 375,000 residents in Sharqiyah Region. The Sur IWP contains
the world’s largest beachwell catchment water area. Since its inception in 2007, it has
operated without interruption and has delivered 200 million m3 of potable water.
